Runtz, also known as “Runtz OG,” is a rare type of  hybrid marijuana strain. Runtz is made by Cookies Fam by crossing  Zkittlez with Gelato and it is loved for its incredibly fruity flavor profile that smells just like a bag of the sugary candy we all know and love. Because of the rising popularity of this cannabis strain, it’s no surprise Druntz Strain was named Leafly Strain of the Year in 2020.

Effects: Considered a 50/50 high, Runtz’s effects generally start in my head and eyes, sparking an instant cerebral high that kills my peripheral vision and stress. Despite the tunnel vision, concentration and energy aren’t hard to come by for the first hour or two, and that plays nicely with the lack of stress. Physical relaxation and munchies are inevitable, though, so be prepared to crash.

GROWING TIP: Runtz is not the easiest strain to obtain in seed form due to its desirability. But if you do get your paws on that sweet citrusy goodness, you’ll be delighted to learn that Runtz grows pretty much anywhere, for growers of any experience level. It grows ambitiously “upwards,” as you might have guessed from the height measurement we gave, and in its natural growing pattern doesn’t spread out a whole lot. Those who want to encourage lateral growth can use the Screen of Green method to tease the plant into a more manageable growing pattern.
